Afia Kobi Ampem Senior Secondary School is an all-female secondary school located in Trabuom, Ashanti Region. It was formerly known as Trabuom Secondary School and Atwimaman Secondary School.

VISION

To become a model Science School for girls and to provide a comprehensive academic and skills acquisition foundation to pursue further academic studies and become functional citizens.

MISSION

A commitment to provide relevant education to students to enable them to acquire the necessary skills that will assist them to identify their talents, and to develop their potentials to become productive in the future to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

History

Trabuom Secondary School, thereafter known as Atwimaman Secondary School, was founded on October 27, 1975. In the academic year 2002–2003, the school was renamed Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School and became a female-only institution. The school is well-known for its discipline, moral character, and outstanding academic performance. It also boasts a beautiful, tranquil campus. One of Ghana’s top senior high schools for females is Afua Kobi. Notable tutors at the school include Mr. Eric Osei, Mrs. Felicia Morrison, Mr. Samuel K. Ampofo and Mr. Collins Ampong, Head of Department, Languages; Mr. Daniel Opoku (Omega); Mr. Kelvin Boakye; Mr. David Osei – Wusu (Onipa); Mr. Eric Osei Owusu; Mr. George Agbo, General Art Department; Mr. Bede Abawiere; and Mr. Charles Odame, Head of Department, Mathematics, to name a few.

Location

The school is situated at Trabuom which is 22 kilometers West of Kumasi in the Atwim Kwanwoma District.

Important School Dates

On 24th September 2002, the name of the school was changed to Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School.

On 27^th October 1975, the school was formally opened with 20 students as Trabuom Secondary School.

Status: The school is predominantly a boarding girls’ school.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS

The school since its inception has produced numerous classes of personalities for the manpower needs of the country. Notably among them are lawyers, medical doctors, nurses, mid-wives, University lecturers, Accountants, Teachers for basic and Secondary Schools, successful businessmen and women, Pastors etc.

The school over the past years has qualified for the super-zonal athletics competition. For the past four years, the school has also won the most disciplined school award during the inter-zonal athletics competition.
