10 TOP LOCAL RESTAURANTS IN ACCRA TO TRY

There are so many great local restaurants on Accra’s streets, shores, and wineries that it’s hard to pick just a few to put on a short “bucket list.” But as a local (Mrpocu.com), I was able to write a book that tells you about some of the best places to eat in Accra.

I’ve been getting emails from my readers for about a month now (at the time I’m writing this post) asking me to write a guide on this topic to help them put some of these local restaurants on their dream lists since they plan to visit Ghana. Even though I have a lot on my plate, I worked hard to put them together because I always put my readers first.

Ghana’s culture is diverse, or put another way, Ghanaians come from a lot of different minority ethnic groups. Also, every single one of these people has their own way of life. All of these groups have a lot of delicious foods that come from their cultures. Some of these traditional ethnic food places can be found in Accra, the capital and most diverse city in the country. This makes it easy to try new foods without having to drive to each ethnic location.

In this piece, Mrpocu.com will tell you about some of the best places in Accra to eat local food. Some used to have traditional settings, but now some have settings for fine eating.

Asanka Locals
Asanka Local Osu is a huge food market that sells all kinds of Ghanaian food at reasonable prices. The room is big enough to fit at least 100 people. People who live in Osu often come here for a relaxing meal. Here, you’ll meet many different kinds of people from many different places. When you get there, the place looks like a big open space with a lot of chairs and tables. It might be one of the best places to eat in Osu.

People who aren’t familiar with Ghanaian food might find the menu confusing, but the wait staff is always ready to help. Most people will offer to bring different kinds of food for you to try. Asanka local is open every day from eight in the morning until midnight. If you don’t live near Osu, you can try one of the other locations in the city.

Katawodieso can be found in Accra’s Osu La Crescent. Katawodieso is not so much a restaurant as it is a food stand on the street in Accra. Even though their most famous dish is Waakye, which is a native Ghanaian dish made of rice and beans, they are known for how good their food is. Traditional Ghanaian foods like Fufu, Banku, and Jollof rice, to name a few, are delicious.

This is clear from the long lines at lunchtime. Katawodieso has been popular in Accra, the city of Ghana, for about ten years.

The Ghanaian Village in Accra is a great place to eat gourmet fish. Under the calm thatched roofs of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel’s roomy and clean beachfront, the Ghanaian village serves Ghanaian and continental food to tourists, such as lobsters, oysters, and prawns. The lanterns that light up the place at night and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean make it a great place to eat at night. During your meal, a neighborhood musician will also play for you. People say that the restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Accra because it has fine traditional dining sets.

Papaye Fast Foods is one of the best places to eat in all of Ghana. It is on Oxford Street in Osu, which is part of Accra. It also has buildings in Tesano and Spintex Road and other parts of the city.

They offer a wide range of options, like vegetarian meals, casual eating, and food served late at night. The fact that Papaye Quick Food is close to the road makes it easy to find. This is a classic Ghanaian restaurant where you would love to eat. Some of the best food and drinks from Ghana are served at the Peace Chop Bar. I went there after seeing a movie by Mark Wiens, the international food traveller, on YouTube. Seeing how some local foods are made makes you want to eat them more.

Hwe Nea Nyame Aye Chop Bar is a local restaurant in Accra.
The food is delicious and very cheap at this place. The sellers are very kind and friendly. It tastes so good that you’d want to lick every last drop out of the bowl. Try some Fufu, and if you like it, you can thank me in the comments.

They have about 20 locations all over Accra, so you can get it no matter where you stay. Ask someone who lives there, and they will show you where one is.

Ashanti Touch at Home
How can I not include Ashanti home touch restaurant on a list of local places in Accra? One of Ghana’s oldest and most well-known. If you want to try Ghanaian food from any group, this is the place to go. Their food is delicious and cheap.
